The Svengali Fooler by Devin Knight

This is a new effect from Devin Knight's recent East Coast lecture tour. It uses a special Svengali deck in a way that magicians will never suspect. So you know, you will need to own or buy a Svengali Deck and gimmick it to do this trick. Take this to your next magic club meeting and puzzle the members.

EFFECT: The performer shows a deck of cards and mixes them. He invites a spectator to stop him as he deals the cards face down on the table. The person can stop him anywhere in the deal, there are no restrictions. The performer deals until the person says stop. The performer shows the card at the place he stopped the deal to the spectator and the audience, but he doesn't look at it. This is so the audience can see the color of the card. The card is returned to the deck and the deck reassembled and cut losing the card in the deck. There are no sleights or controls, the card is really cut into the deck and lost (really).

The performer now asks any other person who saw the card to just think of any card of the opposite color. He doesn't look at the deck, he just thinks of any card of the opposite color in his mind. For example, if the card the first person selected was a black card, say 5 of Clubs, he would just think of any red card in his mind but not say it aloud.

The performer spreads the cards as he asked the person to think of the card he just thought of in his mind. With no fishing or questions, the performer removes a card back outward and places it on the table saying he thinks this is the thought-of card.

He now asks the person who stopped the deal and looked at a card to think intently of his card. Now hear this, the performer says he will attempt to put the card just thought of beside the other person's card. He picks up the card that he claims to be the one just thought of and inserts it into the deck and squares the cards.

For the first time, he asks the person who just thought of a card to name it aloud. The performer spreads through the cards (no culling or sleights) and up jogs the thought of card and the card right beside it, and removes them both from the deck.

He turns the thought of card around keeping the second card concealed behind it. He asks the other person what card he looked at and it is named aloud. When the two cards are spread, it is seen the card behind the thought of card is the other person's selection. The performer has indeed put a card merely thought of beside a selected card. Seems impossible, unless the performer can really read minds!

One of the most baffling mental card tricks you have ever seen. Yet there are no sleights, culls or controls. This looks like real mindreading.
